Those letters after a counselor's name can be confusing. Here's what each of Deana's credentials means, in plain language.
M.A. · Master of Arts
Deana holds a Master of Arts, the graduate degree required to practice as a professional counselor. It represents years of advanced study in psychology, human development, assessment, and counseling theory and practice, on top of supervised clinical training.
LPC · Licensed Professional Counselor
A Licensed Professional Counselor is a master's-level clinician licensed by the State of Texas to provide mental health counseling. LPCs are trained to assess and treat a wide range of emotional, mental health, and relational concerns. The license is regulated by the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council, which sets the standards for education, supervised experience, and ongoing ethics and continuing education.
LSOTP · Licensed Sex Offender Treatment Provider
This is a specialized Texas credential, regulated by the Texas Council on Sex Offender Treatment, for clinicians who have completed additional training to provide evaluation and treatment in this focused area. It reflects extra education and oversight beyond general counseling licensure.
LCDC-I · Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, Intern
A Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor specializes in substance use and addiction counseling. The "Intern" designation means Deana is completing the supervised experience required for full LCDC licensure in Texas, bringing focused training in addiction and recovery to her work.
